This year’s annual Boulder folk dance workshop sponsored by the Boulder International Folk Dancers (BIFD) showcases Albanian dances presented by Genci Kastrati of Tirana, Albania on April 25-27, 2025.
Genci Kastrati is an instructor and choreographer for the Albanian National Folk Song and Dance Group, the only professional folk dance troupe in the country. He completed his secondary education at the National Ballet School in Tirana and specialized in Classical Ballet and Albanian Folk Dance. He holds a degree in Choreography from the University of Fine Arts in Tirana. He has been a soloist with the Ensemble Nacional since 1985 and performed his first concert in 2008.
Genci has conducted seminars on Albanian dance in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, the Netherlands and other countries. In addition to his work as a choreographer and teacher, he has been actively involved in many important national and international projects and festivals, including serving as a jury member. He is known for his significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of Albanian folk dances and has a strong reputation in the national and international artistic community.
