Bulgarika 2025 will play Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Avalon Ballroom in Boulder, Colorado, for the Boulder International Folk Dancers (BIFD) weekly International Folk Dancing session. Bulgarika is a unique folklore band skilled in traditional music from all Bulgarian regions. Each year, Nikolay Kolev (gadulka) and Donka Koleva (vocals) organize a tour of USA and invite a couple of the hottest musicians in the field to join them. This year it’s Stoyan Kostov on tambura and Anton Shekerjiev on tupan and kaba gaida. This ensemble is built for dancing, and that’s exactly what you will be doing on October 3rd!
Donka Koleva (vocals) and Nikolay Kolev (gudulka), who now live in the U.S., are graduates of the National School of Folk Arts in Shiroka Luka, Bulgaria, and are both recognized as world-class masters of their arts. They have taught and performed widely across the U.S. and are beloved teachers in our Colorado Balkan music community
